Part 3 The Bible and the Holy Spirit

An open Bible.Without doubt, the work of the Holy Spirit is extremely important:

Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.”
John 3:6

Also the Bible (the Scriptures – the Word of God) is extremely important:

and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:15-17

And the two together, the Holy Spirit and the Bible, have an inseparable relationship, for we are told:

Take the .. sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
Ephesians 6:17

The Father’s Blessing / Toronto Blessing / The River and the Fire / Third Wave:

From my observations, I see that with this ‘Blessing’ the Bible appears to have taken the back seat, or is missing altogether, or is misquoted. I know that we shouldn’t get judgemental, but the Bible tells us to check out what we hear.

Now the Bereans .. received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.”
Acts 17:11

David Wilkerson is saying something very similar in a YouTube video (unfortunately it is no longer available there) – his Pastor said that the church wasn’t growing fast enough, then he heard of a revival and so he went to it.
On returning he got up to preach but spent the time laughing uncontrollably and there was no preaching, for three months.

Would the Holy Ghost who wrote this Book, who said that the Truth will set you free, would he cause the minister to laugh so much so that he couldn’t preach this Word?

The 18th Century Revival:

When we look at the 18th Century Revival, the preaching from the Bible played a central role coupled with Spirit filled Preachers, and it is repeated time and again.

This is the Lords Blueprint:

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!'”
Romans 10:14-15

Good preaching is based on the Bible by a Spirit filled preacher.

From my observations, the absence of good Bible preaching in this ‘Blessing’ is cause for great concern.

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”
2 Timothy 2:15

I want to see the Lord performing miracles, and pouring out His Spirit upon people, and for His Presence to cause weeping or joy, because:

.. enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
Acts 4:29-30
