Personal faith

When we say that faith is basically 'trust' then we could say that everyone has some form of faith. We need to have faith (or trust) in the wires that take the lift to the sixth floor.
But the bible says that "not everyone has faith" (2 Thessalonians 3:2), that is a faith in the Living God.
And this faith can get knocked and bashed, or we can get blown off course by not having a proper grasp of what the Bible says.
How reliable is our conscience? Why all these horrible situations?
Here are some articles that will hopefully strengthen our personal faith:

What is truth?

RAF plane - close up of cockpit

Here is a bottle of fizzy drink. The label says: “SUGAR FREE.” So “Sugar Free” means it’s not sweet? Wrong! What is truth? It is very sweet because there’s loads of what they call ‘artificial sweeteners’ in it! So labels and adverts can be TRUE, and yet still be MISLEADING…

What is God really like?

A green and yellow stripy caterpillar

When we ask the question; ‘What is God like?’ We immediately hit a problem. Why? Because God fills the universe, He’s in all places at any given moment. He is also outside of time. Everything from the beginning of eternity, to the end of eternity, is set out in front of Him. All knowledge and wisdom that is to know, He knows, and lots more besides that…

Impossible situations

Have you ever been so desperate, in an impossible situation, that you would literally have done anything to put the situation right? Perhaps you were even willing to pushed aside your pride.
Jairus was one of the synagogue rulers.
Many of these religious leaders would have been proud of their titles, their position in society, and proud of their religious knowledge…

[1] Our conscience and authority – rotten ones!

Cartoon of an angry man.

Our conscience and authority, how do we deal with bad or evil authorities?
I love this story where king Saul was tracking David to kill him and there was an unexpected twist:
Do you believe in luck, or the mighty, invisible hand of God in your circumstances?
Just look at this situation!
Saul goes into the very same cave, that David and some of his army are hiding…

[2] Conscience meaning – can we trust it?

Is our conscience right? Is it wrong to ignore your conscience? Conscience meaning: a conscience is in EVERYONE… Secondly our conscience is not always right… Thirdly our conscience can be WASHED clean…

Knowing God as father

Light from heaven shines on a man

If we are believing and trusting Jesus Christ, then that is what we are; children of the living God.
But many people are unaware of knowing God as father. He will be unknown to them.
Jesus came across many who refused to submit to His teaching, and He said to them;
If God were your Father…

Will Jesus say “Well done!” to us on how we relate to others?

The champion boxer Muhammad Ali called himself the greatest.

Jesus was going to give His life as a ransom to set us free, and there were His followers arguing, over who was the greatest! Would Jesus say: “Well done!” Just imagine the situation, Jesus had chosen the disciples to carry on His work and now He was shortly going to die…

How to break free – I want to be free!

A snake tied in a knot wanting to be free.

Have you noticed how some people express how free they are, and yet they dress all the same and are bound to an unwritten code of practice?
Whether that is as a Hippie, a Rocker, or even living in Suburbia, most of us ‘conform’ and are bound by outside pressures…
