Privacy Policy

Peter ReasonWho runs this website:

Peter Reason solely maintains this site and pays for it’s upkeep.

What personal data do I collect and why I collect it:

Comments:

When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
None of this information is passed onto anybody else or any organisation. I do not sell ’email lists’ or any such thing to other parties.

Profile image:

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service (they provide the profile image) to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here: http://automattic.com (opens in a new window).
After approval of your comment, if you’ve got a profile picture this will become visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Cookies:

I use cookies on my website to give you the most relevant experience by remembering your preferences and repeat visits.

The cookies that are categorised as necessary, which the GDPR call ‘functional cookies’, are stored on your browser as they are essential for the working of the website and for security. They do NOT store any personal information.
On this website these ‘functional’ cookies can be any of the following:

Any cookies that may not be particularly necessary for the website to function and that are used specifically to collect information are termed as non-necessary.
I use one cookie for this and it collects no personal info:

Analytics:

There are no extra analytic tracking systems on this site. I do NOT wish to know which sites you go on to view.

Contact forms:

Your name, email and your message are only held for the purpose of answering your question or responding to you.
None of this information is passed onto anybody else or any organisation. I do not sell ’email lists’ or any such thing to other parties.
Communications may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Google runs the reCAPTCHA on the form. It works by collecting hardware and software information, such as device and application data, and sending this data to Google for analysis. The information collected in connection with your use of the service will be used for improving reCAPTCHA and for general security purposes. It will not be used for personalised advertising by Google.

Embedded content from other websites:

Very occasionally an article on this site may include an embedded video. Embedded content from other websites behave in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How long do I retain your data:

If you leave a comment, or use the Contact Form, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

What rights you have over your data

If you have left comments or have filled in the Contact Form you can request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
