Putting Bible Truth into all the Church Stuff
Table of contents for these six categories:
1. Church leadership problems:
Every church has an unwritten code of conduct and it can cause havoc with newcomers, make sure it is not too restrictive.
Just because people attend church it does not mean that they will behave well.
In people’s minds what makes some sins more terrible than others. So for example, how are Gay people treated compared to those who lie or who are very materialistic?
Or see the Church leadership category page.
[1] Church leadership problems – choosing authentic leaders
Church leadership problems, a ministry without conversions should stop. No sense of responsibility, not sent by God who bring no-one to God.
[2] Christian code of conduct – unwritten behaviour.
A congregation has it’s unwritten Christian code of conduct, a unique code of behaviour and appearance. To be accepted you need to follow this…
[3] Christians behaving badly – selfish ambitions
I felt very battered because of Christians behaving badly. God’s work in which we were involved in has been snuffed out! When you cut through the facade it boiled down to being trampled on by a Christian’s selfish ambitions. Why should the work of God be stopped by selfish ambition?
[4] Views on what makes a sin terrible or acceptable
Every congregation has a view on what makes a sin terrible and what isn’t so bad: divorce, greed, homosexuality, anger, immorality, jealousy, etc.
[5] Gays cannot stay at Bed and Breakfasts or hotels?
Isn’t it judgemental to say: “Gays can’t stay at Bed and Breakfasts or hotels”. But hasn’t that happened? How many people have been turned away from a Bed and Breakfast for being: Greedy? Or an angry person? Yes someone can be turned away for shouting at the proprietor, but not for living an angry life?…
[6] Should a Minister of Religion wear a uniform?
Some laugh at clergy vestments ‘Nice frock!’ Is it out of date? Should a Minister of Religion wear a uniform? What is the history of clergy vestments?
2. What is Communion?
Jesus’ disciples made the arrangements to celebrate the Passover Seder Meal, but later during that meal Jesus brought in his New Covenant. Both the Passover meal and Jesus’ new ‘Last Supper’ celebrate spiritual freedom.
There is much symbolism in the Passover meal…
Or see the What is Communion? category page.
[2] The symbolism of the Passover Seder Meal
There is a lovely symbolism of the Passover Meal – the Seder Meal. The Head of the house puts on a Kittel which resembles a Lab Coat, but has no pockets or buttons. The origin of the Kittel comes from the priests clothes. But NOT the High Priest’s elaborate garments. When he entered the Holy…
3. What is Christian unity?
Christian unity sounds okay in principle but in practice does everything get reduced to the lowest common denominator? Christians must unite around Jesus’ teachings.
Satan knows the importance of unity, so he will try to split everyone apart, or get them to agree on the smallest amount of doctrine.
Or see the What is Christian unity? category page.
[1] What is Christian unity? So many denominations!
What is Christian unity and denominations in the Kingdom of God? It’s people that are important. Christians are now in fellowship with Almighty God.
[2] Satan knows the importance of unity
Satan can raise the importance of unity, why when he wants it destroyed. But Satan hates the Bible – God’s Word, even more than he hates unity.
4. Early church worship and message:
Did the early church get it right?
To be effective our worship and message need to be correct, but what does it mean to worship and what is doctrine? What should the Gospel message be?
What are the origins of baptism, can we get it right but not be diversive?
Or see the Early church worship and message category page.
